a sweet march weekend

March 25, 2019

Happy Monday friends! I hope you are having a wonderful start to this new week! This past weekend was sweet time of enjoying beautiful weather outside, but most of all celebrating my precious mom's birthday!
Last week my older brother (who lives in the south) said that he wanted to surprise my mom for her birthday (which was Sunday) with a visit. He was going to be in the area because he was helping a friend move up to Vermont and it was the perfect opportunity to come and surprise my parents with a fun visit! So Saturday morning I drove over to meet him at the ferry - it was chilly and snowy so he got a good taste of the cold weather *smiles* and then we went to surprise my parents at Panera.
My mom was so surprised and shocked (my dad was honestly speechless) and we had a lovely time sitting at Panera for a while catching up!
This is a random side note- but y'all know how I love tea? Well warm water with lemon is a new favorite thing. Random, but true. For several years in the midst of my health journey I was allergic to lemon but have now found that in healing I am not anymore. Haha- a little random note in this post. *smiles*
In the afternoon my parents and brother went over to spend time with my grandmother before they drove him back to Vermont and I went home. Later on in the afternoon on my walk I passed this light blue house and each time I do it just makes me smile. There was a point several years ago where I couldn't even walk to this house and I had a goal of "someday" being able to walk to it. Now being able to walk past it with many steps to spare it brings a soft smile to my face and gently reminds me of how far I have come in the healing process.

I have needed that gentle reminder this past week as I have been frustrated with the slow healing process that one specific area is causing. In more ways that I can express I feel so "done" with this part of my health journey and when I see these gentle reminders of where I was to where I am they are a beautiful encouragement to me.

It also has felt so good to get out and walk this time of year. As a few of you know I wasn't able to ski this year and honestly it was so incredibly hard. I fell in love with skiing last year and to not be able to do it this past year felt a bit like a dagger in the heart. That sounds dramatic I know, but I think when you find something you love and it has been a long winter great for skiing it was really hard. Next year- I can not wait to be back out there!
Saturday afternoon I worked on shop orders (the Spring Collection in the December Caravan Shop launched on Saturday and will continue to have new items added to it in this week) spent time connecting with friends, and some bloggy world related things.
Sunday was my mom's birthday so we celebrated by heading over to Burlington and eating at JR's. If y'all haven't eaten there definitely do! It is so yummy! If you are gluten free they have gluten free pizza crusts and gluten free pasta too.
The owner was so sweet and gave my mom a piece of chocolate cake for her birthday. This lady loves her chocolate so she was giddy! Hahaha. My dad had to fly out for a business trip later on so my mom and I finished out her birthday by watching a movie she wanted to see. It was a sweet day celebrating this best friend of mine!

I can't believe that we are already into the final week of March y'all! I think I say this with every weekend recap post but this new year seems to be flying so quickly. I want to grab onto the moments and just hold time still in some ways, and yet it continues to march forward and with that I know will come new adventures and joys.

Did y'all have a good weekend? Did you do anything special this weekend? Happy Monday friends! I hope that you have a wonderful beginning to your new week!

PS- Recently I have been getting a lot of emails asking about where to purchase different items in my post so for those who are curious I will try to list the things that I can find. I do a lot of shopping at consignment and thrift stores so sometimes I can't find exact items but I will try to list those items I can find! Thanks friends!
