Happy Tuesday friends! I hope your week is going well! I am still overwhelmed by the excitement from my post in August all about Creative Reuse shops and reviewing these places! I am so excited that y'all are so excited about this travel series! These stores are truly a treasure trove for artists, teachers, creators, homeschool and creative mamas, and anyone who loves to create. You can find a map of all of the shops HERE!
If you would like to know just basic facts about the this shop please just scroll down to the bottom of the post where I will be sharing basic information to help those who want to know more specifics about each of the creative reuse shops and some tips from each store!
Today I am sharing more about the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse which is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Mom and I stopped there last October on our 2023 Eastern Fall Road Trip!
We purposefully drove to Pittsburgh after being in Cleveland, Ohio just to go visit this Creative Reuse store and to see a quick bit of Pittsburgh. For a time reference from where we were in the Cleveland area to this creative reuse center it was only about 2 hours away.
This store had so many fun offerings of all different types of craft and art resources and items. You can see from the pictures that while the space from the outside looked small, as soon as you entered you could tell that it was HUGE. We only had allotted about 2 hours in this space and we ended up staying right till they closed (which was about 3 and 1/2 hours) and we could have stayed longer!
Things are very organized, despite the amount of items and there were so many things to look through! Honestly, you could find so many different items depending on your craft/work/hobby here. It was truly filled with so many things and I loved the way that people had donated these items to be reused instead of just throwing them out into a landfill!
The prices were fair from our experience in visiting so many different creative reuse stores and the people and workers were friendly and helpful. One of the neat things with the workers that we interacted with was they truly seemed genuinely interested in what people were making and creating. As some people walked in we heard them telling people things like, "Joe, we got in more of _________" or "Kate, I saw that there were some photographs that came in that you might like for your mixed media projects." It was neat to hear as there was obviously a community that was common there and we were welcomed right into that. One of the workers asked us what we were making and creating and when we explained they started showing us all different things around the shop. Definitely a fun creative community experience!
It is definitely a place that we would go to visit again and I definitely recommend it! If we were within a couple of hours of this store we would definitely make a trip back there- the prices were fair and the unique assortment of items definitely was a fun treasure hunt experience that we had!

Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse is a non-profit that inspires creativity, conservation, and community engagement through reuse.
We operate a non-traditional art supply shop located at the intersection of Wilkinsburg, Homewood, and Point Breeze, where people can donate used art and craft supplies, as well as shop for these unique items all in the same location. We also facilitate hands-on creative programming that educates the public about the benefits of reuse for the environment, community, and self. We see reuse as a vehicle for boosting self-confidence, learning new skills, and creating opportunity for all.
KEY DISTINCTIVES:
*none noted*
COST:
Compared to other shops we have tried and visited, the prices were fair even compared to shops around the country that exist in large and expensive cities.
PARKING:
There was street parking that was nearby, but on certain days of the week you couldn't park there. There were limited spots, but this might be a bit difficult depending on the time or day that you go.
CROWDED?:
It was busy when we were there.
DISABILITY /CHRONIC ILLNESS FRIENDY?:
Absolutely yes. The aisles were wide enough that a wheelchair could fit through. Another unique item about this shop is that from 11am-12pm each day they ask everyone to mask to provide a safer environment for immunocompromised individuals. As a lady who was very sick with an immune compromised situation and loved crafting - but at one point couldn't risk the tiniest germs- this is a really beautiful thing that they offer to everyone. They also offer online shopping for those who may not be able to make it into the store.
Thank you so much for reading today friends! Please let me know if you have any questions about Creative Reuse Shops or the Pittsburgh Center for Creative Reuse specifically! I am happy to answer and can't wait to hear about your creative reuse shop adventures! I wanted to share a quick review of our very first experience with one of these shops- and it was the Lancaster Creative Reuse Shop. We discovered this store during our trip to Lancaster in December 2022. Mom and I love thrifting and as we were researching for the trip a few places to try, we came across the Lancaster Creative Reuse store. Immediately we were intrigued and it was such a fun and amazing experience!

This store (so far) has remained one of our favorites- the amount of items in the shop, the prices were fair and incredible, and the amount of treasures in there have made it a favorite to visit. The people running the shop are friendly and so much fun which make it a really delightful experience. This experience was truly like a thrift store experience: digging for treasures we had the absolute best time!
We have been back several times and it remains so far our favorite shop!! I honestly believe that Lancaster Creative Reuse set a HIGH bar for all of our experiences!
BUT this review is going to be a bit short because this past year, Lancaster Creative Reuse moved! The pictures above are from the old shop and we have a trip heading there in the next few months so I plan to do an updated post with new pictures all about our experience! I can't wait to share with y'all more about this so stay tuned for an update in the fall!

Happy Tuesday friends! I hope that you are having a wonderful week!
Today I am so excited to share with y'all a bit more about Erb's Covered Bridge that I mentioned from our trip to Pennsylvania in December! You may remember that I mentioned that we spent so much of our time in Lancaster County driving around, exploring the beautiful countryside, and seeing some of the incredible historical places in the area.
One of the beautiful places we drove to was the Erb's covered Bridge which goes across Hammer Creek in Lancaster County. The history of the bridge was so fascinating to learn!
The bridge was built in 1849 and the cost was $700. It is historically designated as The Hammer Creek #1 Bridge. As you can see in the picture above, the bridge is painted red on the inside and outside which is the traditional color of Lancaster County covered bridges.
The bridge was built in 1849 and then in rebuilt in 1887. The bridge was built on the Erb Family land and the respected family has a rich history within Lancaster County that continues to this day.
This bridge is a beautiful place to visit and I can't recommend checking it out- such a small but beautiful piece of history located right in Pennsylvania!

Happy Tuesday friends! Today I am excited to share about our stay at Inglewood Cottage in December! You may remember me sharing about the reel (you can watch it HERE!) that I created about our lovely stay (you can read a blog post about the reel HERE).
Our stay at Inglewood cottage was truly lovely.
Clarita and Ben (the owners of Inglewood Cottage) describe the cottage in the following way:
"Inspired by Old European design, this gives you a luxury stay in a sweet cottage. Tucked in a peaceful wooded coroner on our 20-acre 1700's farmstead, you can visit the animals, see the rhythm of our family farm life, and enjoy being in nature."
I can definitely attest to this! It did feel like we had stepped away and were staying in a sweet space in the European countryside even though we were less than 5 miles away from Lancaster.
An early morning walk confirmed this thought!
I loved the large American flag on their barn!
Beautiful morning views!
This beautiful space is approximately 20 minutes away from Amish country, which is where we spent most of our time!
We arrived in the early evening and it was the most lovely site that greeted us!
The next couple of mornings we spent time in different parts of this beautiful space and it was all lovely!
The adorable little porch with the table looked out onto the field of animals! I can imagine sitting here in the spring and summer and enjoying that view!
As you walk into the sweet little cozy cottage, you are immediately welcomed into a lovely space.
Clarita has such an eye for design and detail!
As you stand in the space between the kitchen and the living room, you can look out onto the porch!
One of our favorite things were the lights that were left on throughout the evening. It truly created a beautiful space and light that gently filtered into the cottage at night.Tiny snowflakes on the porch table *smiles*
The view (and the fire pit) off the porch looked so cozy!
There are two bedrooms in the 480 square foot cottage. Bedroom #1 (picture above) had a queen bed and overlooked the woods behind the cottage.
I stayed in this bedroom- bedroom #2 which held two twin beds. Nicknamed the "wildflower inn", it was a beautiful and lovely space for rest.
One of my favorite times of our stay was on the last night my mom and I curled up on this cozy sofa and watched a movie on the TV with the fireplace on below. It was such a cozy night and a refreshing space and time for our weary hearts.
This post was not sponsored, but Clarita and Ben did gift us this stay as an incredible gift for us after and during an incredible hard season. Thank you so much again for the lovely stay y'all. It was truly a beautiful gift!

Happy Tuesday friends! As I mentioned here on the blog, mom and I were gifted (for a few days at Christmas) with the most beautiful and lovely stay at Inglewood Cottage in Pennsylvania (see HERE!). This was the most lovely gift and we excitedly looked forward to it for weeks and months. We would only have a couple of days in Lancaster and due to this we decided to leave on Christmas day to drive down to Lancaster (approximately 7 hours away). Prior to checking into Inglewood Cottage we stayed one night at Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square.
Due to a fuel leak at our house, we didn't leave for Lancaster until many many hours after we had planned and finally pulled in at approximately 11pm. Y'all we were exhausted and simply weary by the time we arrived. And y'all... the staff and this stay was wonderful.
From the moment that I walked into the beautiful lobby at the Lincoln Marriot at Penn Square I felt that I had stepped into a different world. The hotel lobby was beautifully decorated and warm and welcoming.
Each member of the staff that I spoke with was extremely kind and gracious and went out of their way to make all of their guests feel like they were valued and important. Checking in was easy and quick and finding out that street parking was available (for free!) was an absolute gift.
The Lincoln Marriot at Penn Square is located in the heart of Lancaster and was within walking distance to all of downtown. The location made it quick and easy to get to everywhere and yet, it was extremely quiet and peaceful. We slept so well and it was a lovely evening!
Our view outside our hotel room the next morning was simply stunning. This picture above doesn't do it much justice. I shared pictures on my IG of our room and view which you can see HERE.
Y'all know I love history and so one of the most amazing things about the hotel is that not only does it include amazing architecture, but also includes a preserved section of the Underground Railroad!!!
If you are traveling for personal or business reasons you will definitely find that you feel that you have stepped away from the busy and bustling city and traffic as the hotel property is very quiet, making it a restful retreat away from the hustle and bustle despite being right in the city!
I hope that y'all have found this review of the Lincoln Marriot at Penn Square helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions regarding this hotel! I would be happy to answer them!
Happy Friday friends! Today I am so excited to share that I shared an instagram reel over on IG!! You can watch it by clicking HERE!
I loved the creative aspect of showing about our visit to Inglewood Cottage in this way and with this music *swoon*. I am so excited to share more reels from the Christmas season and other travel places over the next few weeks, and of course more about our lovely stay at the Inglewood Cottage!
In the meantime, head on over to watch it HERE and to see the Inglewood Cottage reel!
PS- Thanks so much for liking, saving, commenting, and sharing my IG things! You may wonder why this is important, but as social media is part of my job each time that you like, comment, share, save, or watch something it helps me as I make a small commission which is part of my job. It really is a blessing!
