I admit that while I do eat frozen strawberries throughout the year in my smoothies, there is just something extremely delicious about fresh strawberries! As I was researching about more about them, I was amazed at the incredible studies that have been done on the power of this little fruit that packs such an important health punch.

1. Excellent Source of Vitamin C
Strawberries are an excellent source of Vitamin C and one serving contains about HALF of your daily requirement!!

2. Helps Protect and Maintain Your Heart
There are many studies that link strawberries to hearth health! One study even showed that eating 2.5 servings of strawberries each and every day for a month significantly improved endothelial (the membrane in heart and blood vessels) function and antioxidant status.

3. Defense Against Endothelial Dysfunction
Endothelial Dysfunction is characterized by the abnormal functioning of inner lining of our blood vessels. In scientific studies that have been performed strawberries have shown to provide protection against endothelial dysfunction.

4. Unique Antioxidant power
Strawberries contain Ellagic Acid which is an antioxidant that has anti-inflammatory effects which can help slow down, prevent or even reverse certain chronic diseases!

5. Improves Brain Power
A Nurses Health Study measured brain function in nearly 20,000 patients over the course of six years. During this time it found that people who ate blueberries and strawberries had less cognitive decline and even had the brain power of someone up to 2 and 1/2 years younger than them!

In addition to this the Rush Memory and Aging Project showed that people who consumed strawberries regularly were 34% less likely to develop Alzheimer's!

Cataracts also can lead to blindness in older age. Vitamin C is known to play an important role in strengthening the eye's cornea and retina and can help benefit your eyes!
