UPDATE: "From Hope Valley" will be published here on the blog as a series of 45-devotional posts starting Wednesday, February 1st. I look forward to y'all having the opportunity to read these posts then!
Hi y'all! I want to first say "thank you" for your incredible kindness and excitement of the book, "From Hope Valley" that was set to release next month. Each of your kind words, messages, and love about this project has been something that I truly treasure. Y'all are always so incredibly kind to this beginning author. At this point I have decided not to publish the devotional. I wish that I could share in detail the reasons behind the change, but I trust that you know that this decision was not made lightly or without much thought, prayers, and tears. As I take time to recover from the disappointment and loss of this project, I appreciate your support and as always your prayers.
"If your heart is broken, you'll find God right there; If your kicked in the gut, He'll help you catch your breath."
-Psalm 34:18(The Message)-
"From Hope Valley" devotional will now be released on February 10th! I can't wait to share more updates with y'all and also exciting news about the book in the coming weeks! If you would like more updates please come over and say hello at "From Hope Valley" IG feed! You can find it HERE! I would love to connect with you there!
Several weeks ago, at the beginning of December my mom and I had the amazing opportunity to be apart of the Hearties Family Reunion (a fan event for the TV show When Calls the Heart) in Vancouver, BC. It was a brilliant and wonderful weekend and as I shared on instagram, I marveled at the beauty and the creativity of all of those involved in the show and left inspired in many was that are hard to put into words. The entire weekend was absolutely delightful in meeting so many lovely people, including the cast of When Calls the Hart (#WCTH), producers of the show, Brian Bird, Janette Oke, and so many other sweet #hearties. The trip impacted, inspired, and changed me... in gentle and beautiful ways.
On Friday evening (December 2nd) we gathered for the welcome party. I said this to several people but I truly wasn't sure what to expect. I wasn't sure if we were all going to stand around and chat or what the process would be but I was so impressed with the way that the organizers had set up the time. It was truly wonderful.
After registering and receiving some awesome swag bags and goodies we all met in the large conference room where we proceeded to have a wonderful evening.
We heard more details about how the weekend would look, heard precious testimonies of how the show had impacted people personally, and even got to have a sneak peek of the Christmas episode movie.
One of the most fun parts of the reunion was connecting with new friends from around the world! I loved meeting these precious new friends (including some whom I have connected with in the Facebook group) and was delighted to connect with others who had a love for life. We had a blast hanging out and sitting with each other throughout the conference and enjoyed getting to know these ladies more at dinner one of the evenings.
I had the opportunity to meet and talk with Brian Bird, one of the executive producers of the show.
It was an incredible honor to meet was author Janette Oke.
As a beginning author and a woman who wants to encourage others through her writing it was such an incredible honor to have the opportunity to chat with Janette. She was so incredibly gracious and had words of encouragement for me as a writer which I truly have treasured.
I have always found Janette's books to provide a sweet and yet profound message of truth in them and to meet her was such an amazing thing that I will definitely treasure forever. As an author you always have your favorite authors that you admire and look up to and Janette Oke is definitely one of those for me!
And of course for me the most special part of the entire experience was sharing it with my mom. We had such an amazing time with memories that will last for a life-time. It was such a wonderful opportunity and a dream come true.
A huge thank you to everyone that made this trip possible and to everyone who was apart of this! I can't wait to share with y'all in the next couple of weeks more of the Hearties Family Reunion (#HFR2) including the opportunity to meet the cast and crew (which you can read about HERE) and the visit to Hope Valley (the set of When Calls the Heart)!

What We're Eating this Week...
So back in June I shared a post entitled "17 Ways to Use Apple Cider Vinegar" and then honestly hardly used ACV at all this summer. I think after using it in detox baths (twice a day) and drinking up to 1 cup of it everyday for almost two years my body was done. With fall in full swing and the holiday season approaching, I have started to add this back in. There are so many important benefits of ACV (you can read 15 benefits of it HERE) and I want to add this back into my daily routine.
What I'm Reminiscing About...
All things Royal Caribbean Cruise related that my parents and I went on in November. I only have a couple of posts left to share from this amazing experience and in many ways I am delaying because it was such an incredible experience that I want to linger over all of the precious memories for as long as I can! If you want to read more about the experience you can find the following posts:
And guess what? Royal Caribbean is currently having some amazing sales! You can check out more about Royal Caribbean by clicking HERE!
Also I am currently going through hundreds of pictures from my time at the #hearties family reunion and visiting the set of When Calls the Heart. It was an amazing weekend and I can't wait to share more with y'all in the upcoming weeks!
What I'm Loving...
Being able to celebrate the different things this season that I haven't been able to do in years. I shared more with my IG community but every single thing is a gift that I don't take for granted.
What I've Been Up To...
Finishing up Christmas decorations, Christmas cards, catching up with old friends through long and unhurried phone calls, and savoring the moments.
What I'm Dreading...
I shared in a treatment update on Sunday about some of the things that I am currently struggling with. You can read more HERE. I so appreciate all of your prayers and support.
What I'm Working on...
As I shared earlier this month, I am so excited to announce that my newest book, "From Hope Valley: A 30-day devotional on faith, community, and love inspired by the TV show When Calls the Heart" will be available on February 1st! You can read more about the book HERE! I am putting together a book launch team in the beginning of the new year and if you are interested or a #heartie I would love to have you! Please feel free to email me for more information!
What I'm Excited About...
Celebrating a simple yet lovely Christmas with my family and the new year. I can't wait to share more with y'all, but I am very excited about lots of things that the Lord is doing.
What I'm Watching/Reading...

Robin Jones Gunn Pic |
So y'all know that I love the author Robin Jones Gunn and all of her different series. Some of my favorites of hers are The Christy Miller Series, The Sierra Jensen Series, The Katie Weldon Series, Christy & Todd the Married Years, and the Glenbrook Series (Okay, lets be honest ALL of Robin Jones Gunn books *smiles*) I shared in my post the 5 books that have impacted my life the most how when I was 13 years old I was handed my first of many books I would fall in love with from Robin Jones Gunn and haven't stopped reading them over the last 23 years. I have read, re-read, and re-read a thousand times the adventures of Robin's characters while I have been encouraged in my faith and strengthened and challenged to return to scripture. Robin takes what some might call ordinary characters and weaves a beautiful story line that challenges me to fall more in love with Jesus, to spend more time in scripture, and to love those that the Lord has placed in my life in big ways with lots of grace. Her characters are so memorable that you feel that you are reading about friends, but beyond her talent for writing is a woman who obviously loves the Lord and has changed countless lives, including mine.
No matter your age- whether you are 13 years old to your early thirties (and beyond) you will love these books. Throughout the last few years of my health journey I have re-read these series and books thousands (literally!!) of times, have handed out countless copies to people on airplanes, in hospitals, and even once in a grocery store line. The beautiful way that Robin writes mimics the beautiful way that the Lord calls people to Himself- with lots of love, lots of grace, and lots of beauty.
AND I am seriously so excited that Robin just released her newest book. I received it as a present and have been purposefully waiting for some cozy moments to read it. To me it is always like a gathering with old friends when I read her book and I can't wait to dive in.
What I'm Listening to...
So my dear friends, the Wissmann Family, released a Christmas single that is absolutely beautiful. You can listen to it above and if you aren't already you can connect with them more on their Facebook page!
What I'm Wearing...
Lots and lots of scarves. I love scarves and in the frigid weather that we have been having they are the perfect thing to wear and they are so cute! *smiles*
I would love to know your answers to these questions friends! Share your thoughts below in the comments!! *smiles* Happy Wednesday!
From Hope Valley: A 45-day devotional on Faith, Community, and Love inspired by the TV show When Calls the Heart (Releasing February 1, 2017)
December 10, 2016
I am so excited to share my new book, "From Hope Valley: A 45-day devotional on faith, community, and love inspired by the TV show When Calls the Heart" will be released on February 10th, 2017!!
This book, "From Hope Valley", is the first and only devotional book inspired by the show, "When Calls the Heart" from Hallmark. This beautiful show is extremely well acted, directed, and designed and is a show that is devoted to the themes of faith, community, and love. Community that transcends the TV show and has a personal facebook page of people sharing their hopes, dreams, losses and love, and who are met with a listening and supportive ear. Faith that despite the tragedies in our world there can be goodness found in difficult situations, in the mercy of others and in the hope for better days ahead. Love for fellow mankind and neighbors that are hurting and broken and for anyone that we encounter in our lives. These themes resound in the TV story lines from When Calls the Heart and are woven throughout this devotional. Our backgrounds, our personal beliefs, and our lives might look extremely different but the common themes of community, faith, and love transcends all of the differences. These themes as well as topics like kindness, gratitude, courage, forgiveness and others will encourage and inspire each person who reads it through the short daily devotionals while reminiscing about a favorite When Calls the Heart scene.
I started writing this specific book in the summer of 2015 as I was struggling with my health and needed the things that I watched on TV to hold encouragement and inspiration. Honestly it was hard to find so I found myself re-watching old episodes of When Calls the Heart. Like many others, I found that this beautiful show was a rich encouragement in my life and took me back to the deepest part of my heart and I was inspired to write a devotional based off of this!
When I had the beautiful opportunity to visit the set last week I thought my heart would burst at thinking of this book and today I am so excited to announce it! Most of all above anything else I hope that this short and sweet devotional book will inspire hope and encouragement in your life. "From Hope Valley" will be released on February 10th, 2017! Thank you so much for your sweet support in this exciting new project!
P.S. If you would like to keep up with updates specific to this book please follow along at the From Hope Valley Instagram page which you can find HERE! If you would like to be apart of this (you don't have to be a blogger!) please leave a comment below with your contact information or send me an email and I will give you more information!
