6 Easy Ways to Incorporate More Fruit and Veg into Your Diet

June 14, 2023

If you want to incorporate more fruit and veg into your diet, then you will be glad to know that this is now easier than ever to do. If you follow this guide then you will soon find that you can get the health boost you are looking for, in no time at all.

Try and Dip

If the natural flavor of broccoli, carrots or even celery is just off-putting to you, then you can try and dip them in some hummus or even in some bean spread. Spiced yogurt is another great option, and so is ranch dressing. If you want to try something a bit different then you can try and slather some peanut butter onto some banana, or sliced apple. This is a good way for you to get some extra vitamins in your diet.

Start Right

Ditch the donut that you love so much in the morning and instead opt for an omelet that is packed full of onions, mushrooms and even peppers. You can top it with a bit of salsa if you want to wake up your palate a bit. You can also boost your morning cereal by adding a handful of dried fruit, blueberries and strawberries. If you want a great way to use fruit like blueberries, then why not make blueberry muffins for brunch?

Drink Up

Having a glass of low-sodium vegetable juice is a fantastic way for you to give your health a boost. If you can do this over reaching for a can of soda, then you may be able to avoid having 10 teaspoons or more of sugar.

Heat Treatment

If you are not a fan of boiled vegetables, then why not give them a bit of heat treatment instead? Roasting your vegetables is a good way for you to bring out new flavors. You can cut up some onion, turnip, asparagus, zucchini, carrots and more. When you’ve done this, coat them with some olive oil and then toss them in the oven. This is a simple way to serve veg, but it is also one of the best ways for you to make sure that you are getting your five-a-day.

Eliminate Hassle

If you are short on time, then why not let someone else do the work for you? Food companies often offer a range of prepared produce. You may find that you can pick up a ready-made salad with ease, or that you have the option of frozen stir-fry mixes.  Either way, opting for pre-cut vegetables is a great way for you to eat on the go and you would be surprised at how much time it could save you in the future.

Improve on Nature

Do not hesitate to jazz up your vegetables. You can add herbs, spices and even chopped nuts if you want. Balsamic vinegar and olive oil are great options. If you want to try something different, then you can opt for sesame oil. A lot of grocers will carry blends of oil that are made specifically for veg, so don’t be afraid to look into them.
