Your Guide To Flawless Skin

May 17, 2019

There are a few things that’ll always have us looking our best. A trip to the salon, a high-quality outfit, and pure looking skin. While the first two on this list are within your control providing you have the disposable cash to make them happen, the last one -- flawless skin -- can sometimes feel elusive. Some days, our skin is looking great. At other times, it looks tired, pasty, and a whole bunch of other descriptive words we don’t want to associate with our skin. A little bit of knowledge will always go a long way, however. Below, we take a look at a few essential steps to boost your chances of having great skin, all the time.

Develop a Routine
Most people know that they can’t just leave their skin to its own devices. But equally, it’s not just to know the basics of healthy skin management; you need to find the products and routine that’s right for you. There are plenty of different skin types, and if you’re going to ensure you’re using the correct products, then you’ll need to know what yours is. If you’ve been struggling with skin issues in the past, it might just be that you haven’t yet found the right creams and makeup for your skin type.

Going Extra
You don’t need to just rely on the products you buy to have magical skin, however. There are other things you can do too. For example, two of the best ways to get clean, fresh looking skin is to exercise and take cold showers. Both of these will stimulate energy in your skin. If you’re looking for a morning routine, you could do much worse than going for a 5-mile run followed by a 5 minute cold shower. It’s not all that fun when you’re doing either of those things, but you’ll look and feel amazing afterward.

What to Avoid
Of course, it’s good and well taking steps to actively improve the state of your skin. But did you know that you may be doing things that actively bring your skin down in the first place? The biggest three threats come from alcohol, sunshine, and cigarettes, and it’s important to minimize how much you get off each. This may be easier said than done. For alcohol, look at socializing in places other than bars. For cigarettes, you can get a vape and cheap juice, and transition to a nicotine-free life. If you’re going to spend time in the sunshine, it’s important that you avoid the hottest parts of the day, and wear sunscreen when appropriate. A little bit of sunshine is good for your skin, so try to find the right balance.

Well-Rested
Finally, remember to cultivate the conditions for a great night’s sleep. You’ll already be aware of how your skin looks after a night of tossing and turning, compared to a night where you slept like a baby. To get a great night’s sleep, limit your tech time before bed, drink relaxing tea, and make the room as dark and quiet as possible.
