The Best Family Friendly Attractions In Lancaster PA

Lancaster in Pennsylvania isn’t always top of the list when you are picking places to go on a road trip, but it’s actually a great location. It has a slow pace of life which makes a nice change if you usually go to places where there is a lot going on. If you really want to relax and take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life, it’s the ideal place to go.

It’s especially good for families because parents can enjoy the relaxed pace of life, but there are still plenty of family friendly activities to keep the kids entertained at the same time. If you are planning a trip soon and you think that Lancaster might be the place for you, these are some of the best family friendly things to do while you are there.

Summer Camps
All kids should experience a summer camp at some point. It’s a great way to meet new friends and have new experiences, and get a bit of independence from their parents. There are some great Summer Camps in Lancaster County, PA, like the Black Rock Retreat. This great summer camp will give your kids the chance to get outside and experience nature and do fun activities like swimming. While the kids are at summer camp, the parents can explore everything else that Lancaster has to offer.

Dutch Wonderland
Kids love theme parks, so you should definitely make an effort to visit Dutch Wonderland while you are in Lancaster. This amazing amusement park has lots of great family friendly rides for younger and older kids, including 2 rollercoasters. It’s a fun day out and it will be considerably cheaper than some of the big theme parks like Disneyland or Universal Studios. If you buy your tickets online in advance, you can make some significant savings.

Strasburg Railroad
If your kids love trains, don’t miss the Strasburg Railroad. This is the oldest operating railroad in America, and you can take the whole family for a ride on the train through the countryside. Back at the station, there are some great train themed attractions for the kids to play on as well. There is a cafe on site where you can get some food but there are also some great picnic spots along the way. The driver will stop to let people off if you want to visit one of these great spots and have some lunch.

Amish Village
The Amish Village is a great attraction where you can take a tour of an 1840s farmhouse and learn more about how these communities live today. The 12-acre grounds give plenty of opportunity for exploration, and you can even get involved in an authentic lesson at the school with a real Amish school teacher. It’s a great educational experience that is fun for the whole family.

Lancaster in Pennsylvania is a hidden gem that often gets overlooked, but if you take the family there, you’ll find all of these great attractions and more.
