Halifax Citadel // Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

October 29, 2021

Happy Friday friends! I am excited to spend the next couple of weeks sharing with y'all some recap posts from the girls trip that I took four years ago through New England, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia (along with some new posts from this time that I never shared also!)! I hope that it encourages you to consider taking a road trip (in part or in whole depending on your circumstances) this fall to these beautiful places in the world.
------------------------------------------------
Happy Monday friends! I hope that y'all had a wonderful weekend!

Today I am so excited to continue to share more about my recent trip through New England, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia! I shared last week about our stunning drive throughout Nova Scotia and how we stopped at various places along the way. For those who may be planning a similar trip I created this map below for a reference guide:
From Pictou (where we disembarked from the ferry) to Halifax, our first stop in Nova Scotia, it took about 2 hours and the drive was absolutely gorgeous. When we arrived in Halifax we decided since we only had a short time that we would drive around the city and just experience it that way. We tried (unsuccessfully) to get our passports stamped (a story for another time!) and afterwards we looked up and saw this beautiful clock (in the pictures above). We decided to climb up to it and see if we could see more of the city this way.
When we got to the top we saw that there were more stairs that led to one of the highest points in the city, so we climbed up the steep hill. It was absolutely gorgeous and we were so glad we did it!
It was absolutely gorgeous and you could literally see the ENTIRE city! Definitely worth it y'all!! As we were about to head back down to our car we turned around and noticed an entrance to the Citadel.
I said to Ali that I would love to go in and see a bit of the history of this area and she agreed! (By the way- Ali was an amazing travel partner- seriously AMAZING! So blessed by her friendship!!) So we headed over to find out how much it cost to get in and were delighted to find out that it was part of the 150 Canada celebration so it was free!
We spent about an hour exploring the citadel, learning more about this area of Nova Scotia and enjoying the views of the city.
It was a brief, but wonderful time in Halifax and I would definitely recommend it. I would love to go back someday! If you are planning a similar trip and would like, you can read all of the posts from the trip by clicking on the links below:

How To Feel Your Best Self When You Travel

October 28, 2021

Traveling can sometimes take a toll on how you feel, especially if the flight or bus journey is long. Feeling your best self while you are traveling is essential so that you can truly enjoy yourself and have the best time. On that note, here is how to feel your best self when you travel.

Take your favorite products with you

Taking your favorite products with you when you travel will ensure that you have your comforts and can get ready each day to feel your best self.

There might be some beauty essentials that you like to take traveling with you, such as a glowy moisturizer for those sleepless nights or your vitamins. Whatever products you use every day to feel your best self, make sure to make room for them in your case.

Sleep essentials

Speaking of sleep, it is also a good idea to take sleep essentials with you. Even if the bed is super comfortable, the unfamiliarity of the space might hinder your sleep. Lacking sleep when you travel can hinder your energy and excitement for the trip. Getting as much sleep as possible will be easier with your sleeping essentials.

For instance, you might want to purchase some comfortable women’s sleep shirts so that you can stay at a good temperature when you sleep. Likewise, you might like to take your own pillowcase and sleeping mask so that your head feels well rested after a long day. Getting plenty of sleep will ensure to help you feel your best self.

Eat right

Although going on holiday is a great time to indulge, it is good to not over-indulge. Should you eat more than you usually do, or foods that you don’t often eat every day, you may not feel great in yourself. You might experience fatigue, which is not what you want while you are away.

While treating yourself from time to time, make sure to maintain a healthy diet when you travel. It is good to treat yourself and enjoy yourself. But, you will feel your best self if you feed your body the right foods.

Keep water on you at all times

On the topic of nutrition, you will want to keep your mind and body hydrated at all times. Traveling can take a toll on your hydration levels, especially if you are traveling throughout a hot country. Thus, in case you feel tired, dizzy, or simply need a pick me up, having water with you at all times is a safe option.

Likewise, it is essential should you be in any type of emergency or delay.

Avoid doing too much

If you have a long list of things that you want to see and do when you are away on a trip, make sure to whittle it down so that you don’t overload your time.

Not only will you cause yourself serious fatigue. But, the trip might not be as relaxing as you had hoped. Therefore, avoid overloading your time so you can take it slow and stay relaxed.

a drive through stunning Nova Scotia//nova scotia, canada

Happy Thursday friends! ----------------------------------------------
Happy Thursday friends! Today I am so excited to continue to share more about my recent trip through New England, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Nova Scotia!
I will say from the beginning that I loved Nova Scotia and am already planning a return trip. The land was gorgeous and felt that you had stepped into a completely different world and the places and things that we saw were just amazing.
We only had one day in Nova Scotia but we made the best out of it- and I loved every second. I truly can't wait to return. There is something that is so "wild and free" about this place on earth.
After our gorgeous sunrise ferry from Wood Islands, Prince Edward Island to Nova Scotia we started the drive down to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
The drive from Pictou (where we disembarked from the ferry) to Yarmouth was slated to take about 6 and 1/2 hours according to google maps. We quickly realized that this would take a lot longer due to the roads that you are on. In total it took us almost 12 hours (which included our stops).
Honestly, it was one of the longest days of the trip for me as I was doing all of the driving but it turned out to be one of my absolute favorites. I was absolutely in awe of the amazing beauty that surrounded us and that I was driving through.
Throughout the drive I had a ton of time to think, pray, and really just enjoy the beauty that was before me. Nova Scotia quickly won my heart over.
I can't wait to share more about Nova Scotia throughout this next week. The places that we saw were absolutely stunning friends and I hope each of you has a chance to visit someday soon!
