life in the sweet south & the lovely upstate new york

March 4, 2013

Life in the sweet south is wonderful and it is where I spend a large amount of time each year. I love the south. I love the word y'all, the friendliness of people - that makes everyone feel like no one is a stranger, the abundant hugs, and the warm winters. But there is another area of the world  -the lovely upstate new york area that holds a very dear dear part of my heart as I have spent every summer of my life at a small little cabin on Lake Champlain.
The little cabin in the woods belonged to my great-great-great-great grandfather and has been passed down each generation since 1901. My mom and dad actually met up there when they were sixteen (at a bonfire, yes, they are that adorable couple *smiles*) when my dad's family had a little camp on the lake. BUT depending on which one you ask you could get a different "story" of how they fell in love. *smiles* My dad would say my mom fell for him right away, while my mom would say that it took some time and in that time she burned his love letters and threw up after their first kiss. :) hahahaha
For every year that I can remember I have spent ideal summers with family, the sweet silence of the woods, spending days with friends who are like family, spending hours on the lake, and watching the most glorious sunsets. There is a feeling of heaven on earth at this place that I affectionately called "camp" and it is truly written deep in my soul.
This little blog chronicles both sides of life... the sweet side of the south with its charms and beauty that are written in my slight accent and the lovely upstate new york that is written in my heart. God is so good to have blessed me with two differing areas (twenty hours apart) that I treasure with my family and friends.
Thank you so much for following this journey! I am delighted to have y'all here!
