Happy Friday friends! I hope that your week is finishing out well! Do you have any fun plans for this weekend? I am excited to get together with friends this weekend- we have some fun things planned! And despite the cooler weather of the last few days (including some snow flurries that appeared on Thursday!), the weather for this weekend looks like it will be a bit warmer so signs of sweet spring are coming to the upstate New York area! *smiles*
I love all the seasons (as y'all know), but there is something about sweet flowers that just bring a gentle smile to my face, as did being introduced to a new company, Pure Placid and their products a couple of months ago.

.Sweetness in Spring is delightful- as is pretty smelling lotions. A side note- if you are sensitive to smells due to health issues like I was at one point and are looking for a "lighter smelling lotion" then I really enjoyed the Mt. Marcy lotion- it has a strong smell but it is calming and not overpowering if that makes sense? Let me know if you have any questions about this particularly!

It was hard for me to pick a favorite item but I am loving the Sunday morning soy candle right now. It's like a happy "white light" in a candle. *smiles*
Oh and did y'all notice the blue ribbon on the products? It represents the perimeter of the Adirondack Park, which again... the symbolism is just perfection. *happy happy sigh*

Happy Friday friends! I hope that y'all have had a wonderful week! Today for my "fashion friday" posts I wanted to share my favorite Flat Iron Hair Straightener that I have found works really well for my extremely thick hair.
This sounds a bit silly but because of the length of my hair and the thickness of it, it would sometimes take me about an hour and a half to straighten. With my low energy as I am healing that is not something I want to spend an hour on (or even in the future honestly!) so I went hunting for the best iron for my hair.
When I first discovered The HSI Professional Glider I was a bit skeptical because of the price being so low compared to other straighteners. But y'all it is my favorite that I have found!
It works so well and if you purchase it on Amazon it comes with a pouch, a travel size of hair oil (which lasts an incredibly long time!), and a glove! I was honestly really surprised at how well this worked for my hair. Every time that I use it it only takes me about 25 minutes to do my hair which is awesome! Another thing that I love is that I have had it for almost 2 years and it still works great! Honestly, I think that there is a reason why it has almost 30,000 reviews and a 4.5 star rating! The cost for everything is $39.95 on Amazon and you can find it HERE if you are interested!
In my quest to find the best I also tried a few other straighteners and here was my impressions:
This was given to me as a gift a couple of years ago. I do love it but I feel that for the cost the HSI Proessional Glider does just as good of a job to be honest. It is currently on sale on Amazon for 15% off but it is $89.99. You can find it HERE if you are interested.
This was the cheapest of the group that I tried. I really wanted it to work (as I love a good bargain!) but unfortunately it took me almost an hour and a half to straighten my hair. The heat (even turned up all the way where I thought it would burn my hair) didn't seem to work with my hair and I heard from a lot of friends who have thick hair the same experience. At close to $23 I really feel it is not worth the price. I do have friends who have thinner hair that feel it does a wonderful job, so maybe consider it if your hair is thinner? I did not purchase this one to try as one of my hair stylists had it and used it on my hair. It took about the same out of time (approximately 30 minutes) for her to do my hair and I felt that the look was comparative to the HSI Professional Glider above. As I shared a couple of weeks ago, I am a girly-girl at heart. Y'all know I love being in nature, working outside, and being in the woods, but I love dressing up, wearing skirts and dresses, and having my nails done. I admit that before I got sick I used to go and get a regular manicure and pedicure, but due to financial reasons there is no way that this would be possible now. I loved getting a gel manicure because it would last for a couple of weeks and if my nails are done I just feel girly and pretty. (Anyone else understand?)
Today I wanted to share a product that I am completely smitten with. I haven't done a smitten post in a long time (in my last one I shared my favorite hair products) and am excited to share with y'all today about this one for nails!

This seemed like the perfect word as there are certain products that I use or have that I am just smitten with. I love discovering great products on other blogs and hope that these items that I talk about from time to time on here might be a wonderful discovery for y'all, like today's post on nails. None of these posts are sponsored, I simply hope that they are helpful and informative!
For a long time I tried to pain my own nails but I felt that it was constantly chipping and peeling. Between detox baths, writing, and blogging my nails get a work out and seemed to be constantly loosing their color. I started to feel like all I was doing was putting on nail polish. I then started to hear about different "at home gel manicures". Let me tell y'all... honest truth I think I pretty much tried them all, but I still found that the color would chip within 1-2 days and my nails often looked like there were 20 coats of polish on them (and there were!).
I was frustrated, but determined to find a solution and after a lot of research decided to try SensationNail Gel Nail Polish Kit a couple of years ago. Honestly, I was extremely skeptical because (a) it was an investment to start off with (kits run approximately $49-$69 dollars) and (b) I had such little success with other gel kits and brands I didn't believe it could actually work.
After a lot of research I found a coupon which took the price down quite a bit, found a coupon on the Target Cartwheel App, used my 5% off pharmacy reward coupon, and a friend (who had patiently listened to my dilemma about nails *smiles*) sent me a target gift card so I ended up paying approximately $5 to try the starter kit. I chose to purchase the french manicure starter kit because I love french nails.
I admit that the first two times were not so pretty (bumping the light and smudging things, getting used to the step by step system, etc.) and took a bit of time (reading the directions, etc.), but I immediately was sold as I saw that my nails didn't chip within the first couple of days. In fact, I started to notice that they didn't chip in the first week and lasted TWO weeks!! I also love the "professional manicure look" that comes with using this specific product.
This isn't a sponsored post, so all of these opinions are completely mine, but I can't recommend this product enough y'all. I receive so many compliments on my nails (and some criticisms from people who think that I am going out to get a regular manicure but also have a go fund me page! hahaha!) and I love the ease and the length of the time that they stay on. I use this regularly at home and also use this to do my nails for special occasions and for the cruise that I went on.
Here is a simple way to use this kit and get a gel manicure at home:
The great thing about the french manicure starter kit (or any of the kit colors you choose) is that it comes with all of the items that you need for your gel manicure. The kit includes a nail file/buffing tool, cuticle tool, gel wipes, gel base and top coat, color, nail primer, and LED light.
The first step is to simply file and buff your nails. Second you will apply the nail primer to your nails.
Third, you will apply one coat of the base/top coat to your nails.
After this you will apply your color or your french tips and then apply another coat of the base/top coat.
Between each of the above steps you will put your nails into the LED light for 60 seconds. I do recommend slightly rotating your nail throughout the time that you have them in the light. This simply allows for the sides and the entire nail to be fully "locked down".
That is all you have to do! The entire process the first few times took me approximately 45 minutes, but now I can do it in as little as 20-25 minutes! What about y'all? Have you tried any at home gel manicures?

Ingredients:
10 blueberries (give or take)
1/4 fresh tomato (cubed)
1 teaspoon apricot kernel oil
2 drops sweet orange essential oil
Directions:
First,
place the blueberries and the tomatoes in a blender. Turn the blender on low
for 10 seconds. You want to mix the berries and tomato just enough to form a
creamy consistency and to makes sure these fruits are blended and there are not
any chunks in the mixture.
Second, pour
the mixture into a bowl and add the oils. Mix gently by folding the oil into
the fruit mixture.
Third, turn
on the hot water and place a washcloth beneath the faucet. Squeeze out the
excess and place the washcloth on your face for about 30 seconds. This opens up
the pores on your face and prepares them for the skin mask.
Fourth, smooth
the face mask across your skin and let it dry for about 20 minutes.
Fifth, gently wash off the face mask with cool water. Apply a moisturizer of your choice.

I was so excited to receive my Glamour VoxBox by Mary Kay in the mail two weeks ago! I was so excited to open my box when it arrived!! Isn't the inside of the box adorable?

The box contained several amazing products that I enjoyed trying out and using! In the box there was a fabulous eye cream brush, sweet colored lipstick, mascara primer {that does a fabulous job!} and my favorite item: the beautiful creamy purple eyeshadow.

Now I am a Bare Minerals gal through and through but I do admit that I did love these products and I am tempted to definitely add these products to my normal make up routine! I used these products {with my bare minerals foundation}for the wedding and was truly thrilled with how things turned out!

I first discovered Olivella products several years ago when I was looking for a sensitive soap for my face. I was thrilled to discover this company and have used their 100% Olive Oil Soap on my face since then. My face has never felt softer or more healthy since that time. I am very careful about the products that I use on my skin so I have been thrilled with the results! While Olivella has entire line of all different products, I am currently only using the face soap and their shampoo. I plan to add try their other products in the coming months. I think it is really hard to find products that are all natural yet accomplish their jobs you know? I think that is one of the reasons that I have been so delighted with this brand! For most of my life I did not use much on my face in the way of cleansing or cream products. Since my skin is so sensitive and I have only had two pimples in my life {yes, I can feel the hatred stares across the internet waves :(} I didn't start to consider face creams until a couple of years ago. I began thinking about the future wrinkles (*smiles*) and researched natural products that could be used. Since I try to use all organic or natural products I wanted something that would be gentle but also good for my skin. My grandmother who looks many years younger than her age and my mother who has beautiful skin both use derma e.
I researched the cream and the company and was very impressed. I chose the Vitamin A Creme which I now have used for for several years and have loved the results.
