Happy Saturday friends! This past week I was so thankful for all of your sweet support of Caravan Sonnet Parcel Club (you can read more HERE if you missed it!) and especially the announcement of the caravan sonnet map letter club!
Today I wanted to share a bit more about this club and answer some of the most frequently asked questions that I have been receiving!
First- if you have been around the blog since the beginning (and thank you if you have - how has it been THIRTEEN YEARS?! this year?!?) you may remember that there was a short-lived (about a year long) parcel post tribe that I created. At that time I hand created two different snail mail cards and then sent them out each month (with stamps) so that people could re-ignite their love for snail mail with the ease of not needing to go shopping for a card along with not needing to go purchase stamps. It was a sweet season and I was truly sad that due to my health I needed to stop and cancel that snail mail club dream in 2014. At that time it truly felt like one more "death" and behind the scenes it was very difficult for me.
For years I have wanted to restore that in a different way and have spent a lot of time praying and thinking through how to best do that and what would be the best way to do this. At the same time I have always loved drawing whimsical maps for different occassions, my class rooms, for personal requests, etc. and when I was in France in August, at the Saint-George de Boscherville Abbey, it all came together in my mind and heart. I spent months researching to see if there was anything like this that existed with the whimsical maps and hand-written letters and photos and couldn't find anything! It has been a joy to work on this behind the scenes and then announce it this past week in the new year!
While there are all different parts of Caravan Sonnet Parcel Club and different subscription services, today I want to talk all about the beautiful map letter club. You can go directly HERE to become a member!
The Caravan Sonnet Map Letter is a monthly correspondence designed to slow the pace of life and reconnect you to place, story, and quiet encouragement.
Each month, a thoughtfully curated parcel arrives containing three frame-worthy pieces, created and written by Rebecca VanDeMark:
* A 5×7 hand-drawn, whimsical illustrated map of a meaningful place—designed to be studied, saved, and returned to and is suitable for framing, using in your journal or gifting to a loved one.
* A 4×6 fine-art photograph from Rebecca’s personal collection, capturing a quiet detail of a place on the map. Each photograph is selected for its sense of calm, memory, and presence, and is suitable for framing or display.
* A handwritten letter sharing little-known historical details, reflections on place, and gentle words of encouragement—written to inspire steadiness, hope, and renewed perspective.
Together, these pieces create a small archive of places you can hold in your hands.
The Map Letter is not rushed mail. It is a pause—an invitation to sit, read, look closely, and remember that beauty still arrives slowly.

Some of the most Frequently Asked Questions that I am receiveing with some answers:
1. What is the cost per month?
The cost of the Map Letter Club is only $9! For less than $10, for the cost of a card with a stamp now adays, you are receiving three pieces (with an extra surprise!) and the following:
* A 5×7 hand-drawn, whimsical illustrated map of a meaningful place—designed to be studied, saved, and returned to.
* A fine-art photograph from Rebecca’s personal collection, capturing a quiet detail of a place on the map. Each photograph is selected for its sense of calm, memory, and presence, and is suitable for framing or display.

2. How It Works
Rolling Enrollment
You may join at any time. Subscriptions opened during a month will receive the following month’s edition. Orders placed from the 1st-25th of the month will receive the next month’s subscription
Example:
Orders placed on January 1st- January 25th will receive February’s subscription. For orders placed after the 25th (26th-31st of the month) will receive the following month’s subscription. For example: orders placed on January 26th- 31st will receive their first subscription in March. You will receive the previous month also (so for this example both February and March will arrive for your first order) but it will not arrive till March. This allows us time to carefully craft and create just for you as these are NOT mass produced. Please feel free to email (caravansonnet@gmail.com) with any questions or special circumstances/requests.
Monthly Shipping
The Map Letter Club ship the first week of each month (by the 5th) via standard USPS mail (no tracking, to keep costs low for buyers) from New York. Most subscriptions will arrive within 3-5 days. If you have not received your mail by the 20th of the month please feel free to email us at: caravansonnet@gmail.com .
Billing
You’ll be billed on the same day each month as your original subscription date.

I am learning a life decision again this week... the reality that we only have so many hours in each day to accomplish the things that the Lord puts before us. And I am learning that business and having a lot of things to do is not always the healthiest decision... not just when you are seriously ill like I am, but for everyday... in each of our lives. At some point we have to acknowledge the actual amount of hours we have in each day and make tough decisions on what we are going to spend our energy (or in my case very limited energy on). And this week I had to make several difficult decisions on where my time was going to be spent.
As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago, a day in my life currently, doesn't leave much time for me to accomplish all of the things that I want to do. There is a lot of time that is being spent on treatment, rest, and all of the necessary components to fight these diseases. This takes an incredibly amount of energy and discipline every single day. I might not "feel" like doing a detox bath twice a day or taking all of the necessary medications (and dealing with their side effects) or even taking my naps but if I want to get better all of these things are necessary components to meet the end goal.
Part of that is hard to recognize... I like many others who are sick want to live a relatively "normal" life but as I sat in one of my ten doctors appointments for this week alone on Monday I had to acknowledge that what I want and what the reality is are two completely different things. The truth is hard and difficult... but the truth is also freeing.

With that realization and the acknowledgement that this treatment plan is "kicking my butt" (as we say here in the south) I had to start thinking about the priorities that I have in my life and what they are in a more "fine toothed way". In addition to meeting my requirements for treatment I must have time to spend with Jesus (which is a non-negotiable for me), have time for quality prayer, I want to have the energy to be able to carry conversations with my family, have the energy to chat and write letters with my close friends, have the energy to give several quality hours to SEEN Gathering each week, complete my work for CRATE 526 and Adopt-a-Platoon, work on my writing (for my upcoming books and for this blog) and work on continuing to develop my shop.
And the rest of the things that I am doing will have to go.
*smiles* I think a lot of times people think that people who are seriously ill sit around watching a lot of TV and "get to take naps" and it is like a season "off of life". This may be true for some people, but honestly in my journey, I have yet to meet someone who likes either of those things. TV gets really old (even if you are not like me and liked TV before you got sick) and naps... well let me tell you they are not all that they are cracked up to be.
Most people who are sick are living life the best that they can and like everyone else must take time to evaluate what is going to "make the cut" of where we will spend energy.
So while there are a hundred little things that I closed the door on this week one of the big ones is the end of the Parcel Post Tribe. I shared with the Parcel Post Tribe Members this week that this has been a decision that has actually been a long time coming but I was hoping it would "make the cut". But honestly there are several different reasons that this is the best decision right now. One of course is my health and another was the cost of making the cards and the cost of shipping. Unlike some other monthly card services, the Parcel Post Tribe was a monthly card service with ALL handmade cards (every single part) which took a ton of time and also made the cost of shipping more expensive.
I tried in the last couple of months to "simplify" my cards so that the shipping would be lower but in doing so I feel like a "piece of December Caravan" is being lost. So the end of the Parcel Post Tribe (at least for now) has come. I do apologize to some of you that had written me emails in the last several weeks about becoming a member and I didn't respond until this week explaining my decision. I appreciate your compassionate and understanding heart about this.
As we head into this weekend I am so thankful for the Lord's love and leading in all areas of our lives, especially in regards to things that are best for us. I pray that as I have found you will find peace to make the tough decisions and let certain things go so that you can be abundantly free to chase after the dreams and spend time with the people you love the most.
As y'all know (because I post about the Parcel Post Tribe Every Month! *smiles*) I love snail mail and this program. Y'all I am SO excited and honored to share that I finally can share a little secret with you that I have been holding in for a few weeks!! I applied at the beginning of this year and was chosen to be apart of the The Twinery 2014 Design Team !!!

Today I wanted to write a reminder that sign ups for the March Parcel Post Tribe end on FRIDAY (the 7th)! Order now as space is limited!
Here are a few pictures from the February Parcel Post Tribe! February's membership package included a "Thinking of You" card & a "Happy St. Patrick's Day" card! For the "Thinking of You" card I went with a whimsical and fun approach that incorporated twine, bright colors, happy stickers and a little bit of gold!
I wanted to make the "Happy St. Patrick's Day" card beautiful so I worked hard to incorporate delicate and detailed touches to each part of the card.
This sweet paper flower with the little touch of a jewel helped make this card even happier!
I loved the outcome and final product of the card!
As y'all know postage for each card you receive comes with a Parcel Post Tribe Membership. I love to use colorful & creative stamps and these stamps seemed to fit the feel of these cards!

I have always adored snail mail. Honestly to me there is nothing better than receiving a beautiful and thoughtful card in the mail that always seems to arrive at "just the right time". * These cards are unique and will not be sold in The Paper Sonnet
*The beautifully handmade cards are made with vintage and acid-free materials so that these cards can also be used as keepsakes for your friends and family for years to come.
*As stated above: in order to receive the current months order you must purchase the tribe membership by the 7th of the month. If purchased after this you will receive the following months package.
*Cards will be mailed out NO later than the 10th of the month, but often times will be shipped out much sooner!
* As you check out using PayPal DON'T forget to put your address in the note section and your email address that you would like the e-newsletter sent to.
*The e-newsletter will be delivered on the 20th of the month via email.
*Each card comes with the correct postage.
