job loss update | six months later

A vulnerable post that I hope will encourage someone going through “Day 1”… 6 months ago, with no warning life changed suddenly when I was unexpectedly laid off from my full-time (not teaching/adjunct professor) job due to “budget cuts”. In less than a 7 minute conversation the job I had worked at for years was done and my mother’s radiation treatment beginnings started less than a week later.

You can find the very vulnerable reel about this by clicking HERE!

The way the lay off was handled left me stunned, shattered, and feeling broken in deep ways after a year of incredibly personal painful situations. And while there is a lot to share and maybe I will someday- this is for those who have been reaching out with your own “Day 1” situations… my heart is with you. I hope that these simple things that I did during the past 6 months to heal can be encouraging to you today.

These months have been some of the most tender and redemptive months of my life. What started as watching my mom courageously walk through radiation after months of surgeries and recovery brought us softly into a new and restoratively beautiful season. I realized that I was removed from a very toxic and unhealthy situation that I had been dealing with for years. These months have brought us answered prayers, tears of weariness and gratitude, healing for many things, laughter that is deep, the blessings of dear friends that have surrounded us and spoken so much life over and into us, hope and freedom, and a sweet joy that is almost indescribable.

I hope that this is an encouragement that rescue, relief, recovery, and restoration are in your future. You are not forgotten…you are seen. While it feels impossible right now to believe- life and love will find you again in the midst of brokenness. Healing will and does come…

You are the God who sees me… Have I not even here (in the wilderness) been seen with understanding and compassion.// Genesis 16:13
