Caravan Sonnet Blog
Happy Wednesday friends! Today I am excited to continue recap my Alaskan Road Trip Adventures from 2019. As I have shared, I wanted to do this because I hope that it encourages you to consider taking a road trip of your own this summer to this beautiful part of the world! On Monday I shared about our stay at the Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown and it definitely was an incredible place to start our trip off with!

Today I am excited to share more with y'all more about our recent Alaska trip, specifically sharing about the beautiful room that we stayed in (Room 209) at the Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown! If you missed my post about this beautiful property earlier this week you can find it HERE!

Walking into Room 209 was simply lovely. The minute that we entered we knew that it would be a restful first night in Alaska! If you missed it you can see my walk through of room 209 on my instagram stories by clicking HERE

The room (as you can see in the pictures above) has all of the basic things that you would expect in a hotel room, but goes a step further. In addition to the two queen beds, there is a very large closet with tons of hangers, extra drawer space, and a lovely sitting area with a large couch that pulls out into a comfortable sofa sleeper.

If you are looking to "escape" and have quiet this room is the answer for you. While the room is located in the middle of the hallway, it was still incredibly quiet. What makes that even more incredible is the fact that when we arrived we found out that there was a large soccer competition going on and there were young kids and teens from all over the state at the hotel. Now y'all know that I love kiddos and teens, but being a senior trip leader and cheerleading coach for years, I well know how loud we sometimes got (to the irritation I am sure of those staying around us!). Seriously.... we didn't hear a thing. It was quiet and restful and we were all so amazed!

A couple of things that I loved about the room (in addition to what I have shared above)...

Large Windows/Blackout Curtains
One thing that I absolutely loved was the large windows that brought in so much cozy light to the room as we entered. At the same time with the summer solstice happening, it was delightful to find that there were blackout curtains that cut that light down when we were all ready to sleep. This is something that not every hotel in Alaska has so it is an extra treat to have this!

Storage Space
There was lots of room to fit even a full size suitcase in the closet which was wonderful because it allows you to get it out of the way after you have unpacked. And as I mentioned plenty of space and hangers in the large closet and the chest of drawers!

Amazing Shower & Water-pressure
My sister took a shower in the morning and said it was absolutely lovely with great water-pressure and also lots of warm water, despite the fact that the hotel was completely full. Sometimes in large hotels there is not great sized showers or water pressure due to the number of guests, etc. but that was not the case here- it just continued the theme of cozy luxury in the whole experience.

*the room also had a complimentary hair dryer for those who need it*

Refrigerator in the Room

Complimentary Wi-fi

Sparkling Clean
The room looked like it had never had another person stay in it before us. It was immaculately clean and everything looked so new!

Coffee and Coffee Cups

Extra Pillows and Blankets
The room truly creates a welcoming space as there were lots of extra pillows and blankets. I loved after a long day of traveling that we didn't even need to call down to request more of anything- it was all ready in the room!

Cozy Luxury Sleeper Sofa
It is always nice when a hotel provides a sofa bed, but if you have traveled for any length of time you know that these beds are often extremely uncomfortable and provide little rest and relaxation. This was not the case wit this bed as the mattress was soft and yet firm enough that my sister said she did not feel the "bars" as she slept and it was a big enough bed that it was quite comfortable. I loved that this bed is tucked away behind a mini-partition for those traveling with small kiddos or those looking for a bit of extra privacy. With this addition to the room it truly provided an opportunity for a larger group to stay together in one room which is great!

One thing that I definitely want to add is how safe we felt as women on the property! I know that this is something that a lot of women want to know and I can definitely tell you that I always felt completely safe on the property and was not concerned at all. If you are looking to "get away" for a retreat alone than I would definitely recommend the property and this room also.

I hope that this review of room 209 at the Hyatt Place Anchorage-Midtown helps you see what a wonderful place this would be for a visit!
